Judge Dreier is a member of Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, Bridgewater, NJ, and is retired Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Concentrating his practice on Arbitration, Mediation and Case Management. He is an experienced Mediator and Arbitrator in all areas of civil litigation who frequently lecturers and writes on ADR subjects. He is a member of several AAA panels: Class Actions, Appellate, Large and Complex Case, Wireless Telecommunications, Commercial and Mediation. and ICDR. A, Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, he also has served as an I.C.C. Arbitrator and a Distinguished Neutral for CPR, He is also a Certified Mediator, of the International Mediation Institute and an Accredited Mediator for CEDR (London, UK).
A graduate of Columbia Law School and M.I.T., Judge Dreier is the author of New Jersey Arbitration Handbook, New Jersey Products Liability and Toxic Torts Law, Chancery Practice in New Jersey, and Secured Transactions Under the U. C. C.,each in many annual editions, as well as over 50 published Law Review, Law Journal and magazine articles, and approximately 380 officially reported judicial opinions. He lectured for ALI-ABA for over a decade at many locations nationally; as well as for N.J.I.C.L.E for nearly 40 years, for New Jersey Judicial College for 30 years, and for the New Jersey Law Journal: several times . He was a faculty member at the National Judicial College for eight years, and participated in various law school symposia in NJ and nationally, and was a. Judicial Conference Guest Lecturer in five states.
The judge is a member of the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors (Emeritus) and the Editorial Board of the New Jersey Law Journal. He is the Former Board of Trustees Chair of N.J.I.C.L.E, as is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation;, a Life Member of the American Law Institute, a Master of the Marie L. Garibaldi ADR Inn of Court, and a member of American, N.J. State, and Somerset County Bar Associations. He is a past President of the Retired Judges Association of New Jersey, and has served for 17 years as a New Jersey Supreme Court Judicial Evaluation Commissioner..
Judge Dreier is a recipient of the New Jersey Bar’s highest award, the 2008 New Jersey Bar Foundation’s Medal of Honor, as well as the 2010 Boskey Award for Excellence as New Jersey’s Outstanding ADR Practitioner from the Dispute Resolution Section NJSBA. He received the first annual William A. Dreier Award in 2009 for excellence in and the advancement of Product Liability Law from the Product Liability Section, NJSBA, and the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award for Service to the Public and Legal Profession by the New Jersey Law Journal, as well as the 1983 Alfred C. Clapp Award for Excellence in Continuing Legal Ed.,from NJICLE. He was named Lawyer of the Year in the field of Arbitration, 2016, (Central NJ Area) by Best Lawyers, and has been listed in the compilations of Chosen as a Super Lawyer and Best Lawyers in America since 2004, and for several years in Who's Who in America.
