Mami Kato joined Sachs Waldman as Associate Attorney in April 2012, where her practice is devoted to the representation of labor organizations and related matters. Ms. Kato received her J.D. (cum laude) from Wayne State University Law School in May 2010 where she was awarded the Bernard Gottfried Memorial Scholarship in Labor Law, competed in Wagner Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition (NYC) and AAJ National Student Trial Advocacy Competition, and served as the Journal of Law in Society's article editor. She also interned with the National Labor Relations Board's Region 7 office in Detroit and clerked for the UAW Legal Department.

 

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Kato served as the orchestra operations manager for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra where she was responsible for ensuring the management's compliance with the orchestra's collective bargaining agreements and looking after the orchestra's logistics, including managing its international and domestic tours.
